Snatch
The SNATCH is done by rapidly lifting a barbell from its starting position on the floor to an overhead position in one continuous motion. An elite weightlifter can snatch a barbell weighing as much as double his body weight to arms' length in less than one second. This powerful movement is accomplished mostly through the use of large muscles of the legs and hips, with the arms used only to quickly pull the body under the barbell and support the weight overhead. Of critical importance are the amount of power the lifter produces and how rapidly the lifter moves into the receiving position.
