Acceleration & quick changes of direction are important elements of ice hockey.  Training should focus on refining skills and developing power and aerobic and anaerobic endurance.  Your training objectives and goals should (at least) include training for maximum strength, acceleration power, deceleration power, and power endurance.  Need a program?
